Since the 1920’s, the Chinese have been learning and practicing the Montessori Method. Both Mainland Chinese and Overseas Chinese are aware of the importance of Early Childhood Education and have discovered the rationality and humanity of the Montessori approach. Practical results of this scientific pedagogy have impressed many Chinese and have lead them to study the Montessori Method in Italy, the United States of America, Great Britain, India, Australia, Japan and many other countries. They share the same faith with those who believe in offering the best education for young children. Nevertheless, the Chinese people who have been raised in the Chinese Culture have unique ways of processing, analyzing and practicing the Montessori pedagogy. Due to this uniqueness and the special connection of Chinese people all over the world, we, the Chinese Montessorians see the need to establish an Association that could more specifically address our needs, proliferate the teaching principles of the Montessori method, and address special issues and developmental themes. Together with the aid of the Chinese Language and Culture, we seek to acquire normalization for the development of children.
The year 2007 is a time of formation for us, especially as we celebrate the Montessori Centennial. A group of Chinese Montessorians has decided to form an association for the Chinese internationally and has set its mission to lead the Chinese through the Chinese medium, in the development of the scientific pedagogy advocated by Dr. Maria Montessori. We work to exemplify and support teacher education programs which emphasize Self-Awareness, Professionalism and the Spirit of Service, working for the full development of the human being.
We, the Chinese Montessori international, love and are passionate about our language and our culture. We care and are concerned about the normal development of the children and we trust and believe that the Montessori Method can develop the child holistically. Most important, we share the same origins and the same passion for the education and development of our young. Let us Work together for the only childhood that our children have.
